It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of our former principal, Gerry Donagher today.Gerry worked at Easkey Vocational School (Colaiste Iascaigh) from 1957 to 1997. He became principal in 1973. Gerry was a much loved Principal who took a strong interest in each individual student. He took great pride as a rural science teacher, visiting each home to inspect projects and building strong relationships with individual familes. Gerry took the time to really get to know people and their individual circumstances.

Gerry and his wife Bridie instilled a great love of music in every student and even went as far as offering free music classes before and after school. Gerry had a huge interest in travel and local history. One of his favourite things was his local history tours with John P Mullaney(Snr) where he would impart his vast knowledge of Easkey and the surrounding townlands.

Throughout his time Gerry was a huge supporter of all sporting activites within the school.

However, it was in his role as Principal that Gerry inspired and supported many students and indeed teachers throughout his years.

Gerry has truly left a great legacy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
